Cabbage, onion, & apples in wine & vinegar
For 6-8 servings:
1 head of red cabbage sliced thin or shredded
1 Tbsp. Olive oil
¼ cup honey—or to taste
1 medium red onion, sliced thin
1 tart apple—like a granny smith, peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 bay leaves
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. ground clove
¼ tsp. ground ginger
1 cup red wine
1. Sauté onions and apples in olive oil, add cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes.
2. Add the spices, honey, red wine and red wine vinegar. Simmer until all are well combined and tender. Serve hot or cold.
