Could Work for Derby...

For the parts of Kentucky connected with horses and with Louisville, no question this week focuses on horses, jockeys, trainers, wagers...and food and drink. Any part of Tuesday's Edible Louisville & the Bluegrass pop-up demo/tasting/dinner at Cabinets & Designs in Lexington could work well for Derby events, and the entire meal could become a Derby week classic.

Everything tasted fresh and glorious, partly because it's spring, and mostly because Kentucky's producers grow fabulous foods. If you are looking for definite winners for Saturday, I particularly nominate the Kentucky Country Ham Torte, fresh spring greens with Benedictine dressing, and Mother's Basted Chicken. Oh, and for my money, put your mint in this pistou (pesto) and pour over roast asparagus. You will not miss the bourbon.
