It most likely is a Magness pear, known for its buttery, perfumed flesh and absence of "grit" cells. It definitely is a pear from the peerless Reed Valley Orchard in Bourbon County. I had my back turned when Savoring Kentucky's Best Man started eating The Pear. The sounds of astonishment and delight made me grab the nearest phone and start shooting the following 28-second testimonial to our friends and inspirations, Dana and Trudie Reed, and all their hard workers.
