Good Foods Coop Previews Holiday Tastes

The holiday food sampling at Good Foods Coop on November 6 started just before the University of Kentucky men's basketball season opener, at home, in Lexington. Locals know what to expect downtown: traffic, congestion, un-Kentucky-like behaviors at intersections, "I need tickets" and general agitation until every last person finds a place to put a car. This same scenario unfolded, minus the ticket call, in another part of Lexington: around Southland and Southport Drives, where "driving" became "inching" as hungry people hoped someone would vacate a precious spot. Turkey, corn pudding, whipped maple sweet potatoes, made-from-scratch pumpkin pie with cinnamon whipped topping (or made-from-scratch vegan pumpkin pie with walnut pumpkin seed streusel) waited inside the recently reconfigured Good Foods Coop.

Just like downtown around Rupp Arena, parking for the Good Foods Holiday Sampling event required patience and good tactical skills. Once inside the freshly painted (sky-blue) store, aisles filled with lines of people anticipating delicious food in ample portions, from five different stations. Here's a quick tiny video showing some of the good tastes and people.
