Savoring Kentucky showcases the wonders of Kentucky's food, farms, farmers, restaurants, chefs, distillers, brewers, orchards and markets. We applaud local food, its producers and champions. We delight in news of improvements in food and food systems. We take pleasure in fine food. We thank our wondrous sponsors for supporting our work and local goodness all around.

Glorious, glorious day, though nippy at the outset. After a dark day of pounding rain and big winds, April 11, 2009, the first day of the 2009 Lexington Farmers Market season, dawned cloudy and cleared as daylight came. See two sets of photos below. The Market promises to flourish in its new downtown location on Cheapside and Short, nestled near beautiful old limestone foundations and intact buildings instead of the construction debris of past summers.

Some of the edibles, potables, plantables, adorables:

Some of the creatures of the Market. Look for one slightly early Easter Bunny.
