We had the great fortune of interviewing Sam Fore about her Sri Lankan heritage and Kentucky history and her increasingly acclaimed approach to making splendid food that honors these two cultures. Chef Samantha Fore established Tuk Tuk Sri Lankan Bites in 2016. Sam, who previously designed websites for high-end restaurants, began cooking for others when she used her mother's recipes to host traditional Sri Lankan brunches in her home.
We are calling her Comet Sam; she's more than a rising star. In the weeks around her appearance on Hot Water Cornbread she has cooked a meal at her home for Top Chef food celebrity Padma Lakshmi, cooked and presented at the Southern Foodways Alliance symposium in Lexington, and announced she will be opening a restaurant in the fall of 2018. We are glad we caught her when we did!
