Podcast 33: The Sweetness of Sweetgrass Granola and Its New Sibling, EllieFinn's Veggie Snacks

We began this show with a "yippee" for the newly minted marriage of Perry Papka and Janie-Rice Brother one hour earlier! (Perry is Ouita's brother, and she and Chris witnessed the wedding and still made it to the studio 20 minutes before showtime!) Happiness forever to two beautiful people.

Our fantastic guest, Jacob Gahn, already had us at Sweetgrass Granola. We love this crunchy, quality food, which Jacob and Carolyn, his wife and business partner, make with as many locally grown products as possible, and we enjoyed hearing its origin story. Jacob brought both granola and samples of the new EllieFinn's veggie-infused snacks, littlebites filled with veggies that taste a lot, according to Chris Michel's fine palate, like a good no-bake cookie. (Hosting radio shows about food has its perks.)

To raise money to develop and fledge EllieFinn's—an organic, non-GMO, vegan, no-nuts/no-grain, Paleo-friendly snack for all ages—the Carolyn and Jacob launched a crowd-funding initiative on Kickstarter. We wanted to know all about how that works. Jacob described the steps, which he and Carolyn must have aced: at the time of posting, 68 backers had invested 65 percent of the needed funds, with more than three weeks to go before the deadline.

Enjoy the show.
